Built to provide a proven blueprint for achievement, HEROES equips scholars and partners with the guidance, resources, and strategies necessary to excel academically and prepare for meaningful careers. We are dedicated to ensuring that every HEROES Scholar persists, thrives, and attains the professional opportunities they deserve.
Dr. Ashanti
Dr. Ashanti Carter brings more than two decades of leadership in higher education, healthcare workforce development, and student success pathways to her role as CEO and Co‑Founder of HEROES. She holds a B.A. in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego, an M.P.H. from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Dr. Carter’s work centers on designing and advancing evidence‑based strategies that expand access to education and professional opportunities, and she is deeply committed to empowering students and stakeholders with the tools they need to achieve academic and career success.
Mr. Thomas Carter
Thomas Carter grew up in Compton, where he developed a deep understanding of the challenges and potential of students in underresourced communities. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Albany State University and an M.A. in Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding, and Negotiation from California State University, Dominguez Hills. A proud member of Phi Beta Sigma, Thomas is dedicated to ensuring that every HEROES Scholar has the guidance, resources, and support needed to achieve the future they are working toward. As President and Co-Founder of HEROES, he works tirelessly to transform ambition into measurable academic and professional success.
